Mission
Our mission is to advance patient focused research by fostering interactions among advocates, researchers and organizations.
Goals
- Develop a network of advocates and researchers to influence the design and conduct of research.
- Equip advocates/public to effect change in the medical research system
- Mobilize a network around issues of patient focused research
Tools Used to Reach the Goals
- Innovation - Research Advocacy Network uses innovation to change the system for the patient. A focus of the Network is using innovative methods to rapidly disseminate the results of research studies.
- Collaboration - Reseach Advocacy Network collaborates with all stake holders in the medical research community to enhance the effectiveness of advocates and advocate organizations. One example is the collaboration in working with Cancer Centers:
- Technology - Research Advocacy Network uses the latest technology to reach a larger audience of advocates. Technology supported reaching more advocates, especially those attending the American Society of Onocology (ASCO) 2005 Annual Meeting.
- Best Practices from other industries - Research Advocacy Network applies best practices from other industries to inform research design. Best practices from the world of market research brought new information at the design of a large phase III trial.
